IOS 5 Vs. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

What’s the latest buzz in the mobile market? So which one will you prefer IOS 5 or Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich? It’s Apple vs. Google everywhere. While iOS 5 can be explored on new Apple iPhone 4s handset the other one can be checked on new Samsung galaxy Nexus. Google has launched ICS with a new broad category of features which can make users addictive to it. For example, voice commanding, enhanced browsing, photo enhancements, and all new Gmail and Calendar apps.

The two leading brands have launched way different things. It depends on user to user that what he will get more attracted to: voice actions for new Android OS or Voice handling by Siri in Apple iOS 5. What will you go for: a solid camera with giving great pictures or the one giving great panoramic shots?

So, before you go to the store you purchase your choice let’s have a look on the features of both the mobile operating systems.

Our review on iOS 5 vs. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich:

IOS 5 Vs. Android 4  Browser:

It seems both the companies want to have a good battle in the market with their products. Ice cream Sandwich has come up with great browser capabilities like incognito mode, bookmark sync, and saving the complete page for offline reading.

Apple sticking to its great standards has also added plenty of good features in its browser like Reading list, offline reading, private browsing and Safari reader. Reading list in iOS 5 can be synced to all apple devices using iCloud feature.

IOS 5 Vs. Android 4 Camera:

There have been nice updating in the camera software’s of both mobile operating system. You will be happy to operate the camera from the lock screen only. Even Apple has added new ability in its software by which users can line up their pictures using grid lines only and can zoom with a little pinch itself.

In Apple iOS 5 you can adjust to the panoramic mode by using the slider on the screen and align your recent pictures very well. On the other hand, ICS has an all new panoramic mode in which you can switch plenty of photos together to create a broad scene.

After clicking the pictures you can easily use in built tools available in both the OS for modification and enhancement. You can choose from options like rotate, crop, red eye removal, color and contrast settings, etc. But ICS going up to another level will also allow you to set different levels of style.

IOS 5 Vs. Android 4 Voice:

This is one area where Google users may get disappointed. While Google has enhanced its level by adding some good features in Ice cream sandwich OS but still it lags behind iOS 5 Siri. ICS voice commanding will be good now has it has got a hands free feature now. So, now you don’t need to press buttons for voice actions. But Siri is far better. IPhone 4s gives you a virtual assistant. With Siri in iOS 5 you can set alarm, calendar appointments, search for different things, retrieve data and do many other tasks just by voice commanding. Once you command Siri it will deliver you appropriate results using the suitable apps.

IOS 5 Vs. Android 4 Multitasking and Notification bar:

Intelligent Apple team somewhat copied Google’s notification bar design this time. New Apple IOS 5 includes notifications on the top which can be dragged down for a complete look. But Google came up with more enhancements in this area. Now you can check updates while your phone is in lock state. It has even added a tab of recent apps in the notifications bar.

Others:

Ice cream sandwich has come more sociable with its new addition called new people app. It’s similar to windows 7 app. With this app now you can have a good look at the profile image of your contact and sync contacts with twitter and Google+ as well. They have also customized Gmail and have added features like now you can see preview of your mails, search your mails offline within duration of 30 days, etc.  ICS got two more new features: Android beam and Wi-Fi direct which let you share music, images, contacts, and apps very smoothly.

While ICS has brought a new security feature with facial recognition lock in it Apple has brought features like reminders app for location, specific to Siri and newsstand for latest updates of IOS 5.

Apple has also come up with iCloud with which you can sync different devices very easily. You can even have online backup without doing anything.

If you own an ios 5 device and decide to resell it, you will get more money for it than any other comparable Android or BlackBerry phones. An iPhone keeps 50 percent of its value, versus 40 percent for Android and 35 percent for BlackBerry.

IOS 5 Vs. Android 4 Summary Review

Apple has the more vibrant ecosystem of apps, but without the customisation options that many Android users will crave.Android has the more flexible multitasking system, but with some performance issues that iOS devices just don’t have.

Android has Flash, but loading Flash content often means that pages appear slower than on iOS.

It’s impossible to say objectively which operating system wins this fight, but we know that many of you will have read through the pros and cons of both and come to your decision. Whichever way you think is best for you, there’s no doubt that the phone and tablet markets are moving forward at an incredible rate now.

I have IOS 5, therefore my opinion will biased to APPLE.
The new notifications center, imessage and icloud features are really impressive.
Android 4 is only slightly better than the previous Android version. Better Browser, updated camera, improved interface etc. Android 4 is only available to High end Android Phones.

I am personally sticking with APPLE.

If anyone else has used both OS, please feel free to add your comments.

After using both,I can say that IOS is far far better.
Also,IOS never hangs even with slower hardware and less RAM than Galaxy Nexus, but ICS hangs even with powerful hardware.
Apple innovates and android copies(Steve Jobs also said).

I agree. I am running IOS 5 on my older iPhone 3Gs. ICS requires the most powerful andriod hardware. I have not heard about bugs in ICS.

This is good for us consumers! Each company fights the other and comes up with better stuff and we benefit in our pockets haha. I have them both one for work and I use my iPhone for personal use. Do you think apple copied notification Center? They already use Growl on the desktop Mac and it does the same thing maybe they brought Growl services to iOs.

I have both an IOS and Android smartphones and I must say IOS is way better. Maybe because IOS has been in the industry longer than Android. Although I think in a few years IOS will beat its rivals.
